Lifejacket Survey 2018
Exmouth NCI will be participating again this year in the RNLI’s Annual Life Jacket Survey. The 2018 nationwide survey will commence on Saturday 14th July and data will be collected every weekend (Saturdays and Sundays) until Sunday 9th September. As in recent years, Exmouth NCI will be making observations from Coastwatch House so that it does not impinge on our normal Tower operations at the busiest time of year. Both Marguerite Telford and Brian Leader will be stepping into the breach yet again this year to get this job done.
This annual survey provides evidence based data to enable the RNLI to pursue its objective to improve public awareness about water safety procedures around the whole of the British Isles.
Exmouth Coastwatch On The Air
Following the public interest shown last year, Exmouth NCI are again holding an "Amateur Radio Open Weekend" at Coastwatch House (adjacent to the Harbour View Cafe) on the 4th and 5th of August from 1000 until 2000.
Everybody is welcome to visit and have the opportunity to talk to local operators and find out about Amateur Radio, and link up and speak with similar minded people both local and around the world. Callsign GB8NCI.
There will also be NCI officers on hand to explain about the work of the Search and Rescue Services (SAR) and the duties and purpose of Exmouth Coastwatch to ensure safety both at sea and on the beach.
We look forward to seeing you.
